David Grant Sorrell, 76 years old, born to the late W.R. (Reece) and LaVerne Oldfied Sorrell on May 25, 1942. He was a native to Pomeroyton, KY. Passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home after an extended illness.. He believed in Jesus and of Protestant Faith. A Graduate of Ezel Presbyterian High School. He served the United States Army Reserves as a military weapons instructor. He was a bookkeeper and worked over 4 decades in stockyards and Home Tobacco Warehouse in Mt Sterling,KY which he was commonly known as P.I. He lived and loved his life as a farmer. He was know to always give a helping hand or money to those who needed it but not tell anyone. He loved to talk wth his many friends and family but not boastful. He had many kinds of animals over time but loved his last days with two yorkies Maxie and Leigha. David Sorrell participated in many volunteer clubs over the years, Masonic Lodge, and active member of the Menifee Fire Board.
David is preceded in death besides his parents, a brother Bob Sorrell; sister-in-law, Ruby Sorrell and step son Ronnie Yocum. Surviving is his wife of 22 years Allifaire Jones Sorrell of Wellington,KY; A son from a previous
marriage, Grant Sorrell & wife Ashley of Frenchburg, KY; two grandsons, Colby and Jaxen Sorrell. Stepdaughter, Gwenda & Gordon Trusty of Denniston, KY; Two brothers, Freddie Leon & Charlotte Sorrell, and Dale & Sue Mayes Sorrell all of Mt. Sterling, KY. One sister, Patsy & FM Sponcil of Mt.Sterling, KY. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and all his many friends.
Funeral services 1:00pm, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Menifee Home For Funerals with Bro. Gary Mayabb, Bro. Tommy Evans, and Bro. Dennis Flannery officiating. Masonic Rites conducted 12:noon Saturday in
funeral home chapel by Beaver Lodge#505, Frenchburg. Burial in Ezel Cemetery, Ezel,KY with Military Honors conducted by the Morgan County DAV Chapter #132. Visitation after 11:00am, Saturday at Menifee Home For Funerals, Frenchburg,KY.
