John R. Adkins, age 77, of Means, KY, passed away Friday August 23,2019 at his home after a brief illness. Born on January 11,1942 in Lenox, KY to Autie and Clara Trimble Adkins. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran, a member of the Full Gospel Word of God, Jeffersonville, KY. He retired from A.O. Smith factory.
Surviving is his wife Linda Helton Adkins of Means, KY. Two daughters Missy & Terry Kidd of Clearfield, KY. Angie & Tom Phillips of Olympia, KY. Three grandchildren John Henry, James Henry and Cameron McKenzie. One sister Imogene McGuire and one brother Ira & Barb Adkins all of Ezel, KY. Two sisters-in-law, Minnie Adkins Barker of Mize, KY, and Mae Adkins of West Liberty, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents Autie and Clara Trimble Adkins and four brothers Earnie Adkins, Curtis (Faye) Adkins, Everett Adkins, Clifford (Maxine) Adkins. Six sisters, Bernice (Arthur) Johnson, Mary (Robert) Wallen, Lizzie Riggsby, Lina Adkins, Julia (Woodrow) Johnson, and Martha (Elmer) Wolfenbarger.
Funeral service will be 1:30pm Sunday August 25, 2019 at Menifee Home For Funerals with Bro. Tommy Evans officiating. Burial in Amburgey & Lovely Cemetery, Jeffersonville, KY with Military Honors conducted by Morgan County D.A.V. Chapter # 132. Visitation 11:am Sunday at Menifee Home For Funerals, Frenchburg, KY with Randy Halsey, Funeral Director. Pallbearers: Travis Birchwell, Jordan Birchwell, John Henry, James Henry, Chris Riggsby, Terry Kidd, Tom Phillips, David Ray Napier.
