Catherine Smith

Catherine Smith, age 84, of Frenchburg, KY, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in the St. Joseph Hospital, Mt. Sterling, KY, after an extended illness. She was born in Frenchburg, KY, on August 5, 1941, daughter of Butler Sallee and Carma Smallwood Lawson. She was retired from the Menifee County Head Start as the bus driver. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Diana Smith, and one son, Jeffery B. Smith, and his wife, Kimberly Smith, both of Frenchburg, KY. Five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Anita Lawson McCoy and Ruby Lawson Sorrell, and one brother, Larry Wayne Lawson, all of Frenchburg, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Butler Sallee and Carma Smallwood Lawson, and her stepfather, Clayton Lawson, who raised her. Husband Larry B. Smith, daughter Tina Michelle Smith, 2 sisters, Vivian Lawson McCoy and Janice Lawson Smith, and one brother, James Clayton Lawson.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Menifee Home For Funerals with Bro. Alan Ratliff officiating. Interment in the Smith Family Cemetery, Tarr Ridge Rd., Frenchburg, KY. Visitation, 6 pm Friday at Menifee Home For Funerals, Frenchburg, KY. Randy Halsey, Funeral Director.
