U.S. Veteran James Lincoln Cheek was born October 28, 1938 in Tazewell, TN. and was a Newport News resident. Our family is saddened to say that James unexpectedly passed away on August 31, 2021. We are proud to say he has now started his new journey with his God. James was a proud US Army Military man. He was retired and served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, and Virginia. He wore is Colors proudly. James loved the University Tennessee football and wore his TN colors always. He enjoyed spending time and talking with his family, chewing tobacco, eating sweet cakes, and loving his little Lilly
.He was preceded in death by his parents, Birdie and Lula Cheek ; his son Johnny Cheek; brothers, Clyde Cheek, Curtis Cheek; sisters, Helen Rose Cheek, Lucile and Olliebele Cheek; and his faithful dogs, Stick and Susie.
He survived by his wife Wanda Cheek; children, Benny Cheek (Marcella), James “Jimbo” Cheek, Brenda Cheek and Bernie, Steve Cheek (Cindy), Patricia Morrow (Ben), Tim Cheek, Randy Cheek, Robin Caudle, Lenvil Holland (Jill), Michael Mullins, Becky Wilson, and Jimmy Barnes (Tammy); brothers, Bill Cheek (Ada), Marshall Cheek (Debbie), Jimmy Cheek (Faye); sisters, Christine Whitmore (Ken), Ann Doll (Rick). He also is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Mullins Family Cemetery in Frenchburg, KY. Menifee Home For Funerals, Frenchburg,KY, Randy Halsey, Funeral Director.
