Jeanette Frances Egelston, a woman whose life spanned nearly a century of history, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the UK St. Claire Hospital in Morehead, Kentucky. She was 97 years old.
Born on July 29, 1928, in Frenchburg, KY. Jeanette lived a life defined not by what she took from the world, but by what she gave to it. A woman of remarkable resilience and quiet strength. For the past several years, she resided in Frenchburg, KY, where her daughter, Janet Fay Miller, provided devoted care.
Jeanette was a devout Christian who found great joy in sharing her faith, particularly by teaching children in Sunday School. Known for her humble spirit and gentle nature, those who met her children consistently praised her, saying, “You have a very sweet mother.”
She was a woman of many talents and a tireless work ethic. Her hands were rarely still—whether she was tending to her garden, canning the harvest, or sitting at her sewing machine. A gifted seamstress, she not only made a wool coat for herself but also spent many hours sewing dresses for her neighbor. Above all, she loved her family deeply, often spending time reading stories and reciting nursery rhymes to her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
