Lester Ray Wells age 84 of Frenchburg,KY, passed away on December 20,2021. He was born in Logan, West Virginia on December 21,1937 to the late Dorain Wells and Bernice Smith Wells. He was a longtime plumber and business man. He loved the old country music, especially Hank Williams Sr. He had a beautiful singing voice of his own. He was one of the original members of the Frenchburg volunteer fire department. He loved helping others and got the idea that churches should group together and form a charity to help people in need. They formed the charity called Horizon of Hope and it is still going. He loved children and worked hard towards getting the new school for them. He was a lifetime Fish and Home Club member. He was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the Big Woods Church.
Surviving are his wife Janet Fultz Wells, two sons, Anthony & Susan Wells of Frenchburg, KY, Barry & Pamela Wells of Winchester, KY. several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Two sisters, Frances Nolan and Rosemary Heaton both of Frenchburg,KY. Two brothers Larry & Nancy Wells of Frenchburg, KY. Merle & Judy Wells of Pomeroyton,KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorain and Bernice Smith Wells, two brothers, Johnny Wells and Robert (Bobby) Wells.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Friday, December 24,2021 in Menifee home For Funerals with Rev. Jess Brewer officiating. Burial in the Bashford Cemetery, Hwy 1274, Frenchburg, KY. Visitation will be 6:00pm, Thursday in Menifee Home For Funerals, Frenchburg, KY, Randy Halsey Funeral Director..
