Maudie Irene Askins Cornett, age 84 of Tarr Ridge Road in Frenchburg, Kentucky passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008 at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg, Kentucky.

She was born March 7, 1923 in Menifee County, KY; daughter of the late Ezra Doc Bradley Askins & America Brooks Askins.

She was a retired mail carrier & attended the Tarr Ridge Union Church in Mariba, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband Espie Cornett, 1 grandson; William Ray (Billy) Cornett, 1 granddaughter; Marla Leigh Lisle, 2 brothers; Archie & Seldon Askins & 1 sister; Cora Smith.

Surviving is 2 Daughters; Pamela Cornett and Marla & Freddie Peoples all of Frenchburg, KY, 4 Sons; Stephen & Judy Cornett of Frenchburg, KY, Kevin Cornett of Frenchburg, KY, Barry & Patricia Cornett of Means, KY and David & Michelle Cornett of Frenchburg, KY, 2 Sisters; Carma Brown of Frenchburg, KY and Peggy & Ray Cornette of North Carolina, also surviving is 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Granchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday Feb. 13, 2008 at Menifee Home For Funerals with Rev. Delbert Coffey & David Woodward officiating. Interment will follow with burial in the Egelston Cemetery on Tarr Ridge Road in Frenchburg, KY. Visitation will begin after 6:00 pm Tuesday at Menifee Home For Funerals in Frenchburg, KY.

Pallbearers: Steve Cornett, Kevin Cornett, Barry Cornett, David Cornett, Stacy Lisle, Travis Cornett, Justin Cornett and Matthew Cornett.
