Mervill Lawson

Mervill Lawson, age 68, of Wellington, KY, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, in the Menifee Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center, Frenchburg, KY, after an extended illness. He was born in Mt. Sterling, KY, on March 10, 1957, son of Grover Lawson and Ailene Taulbee Lawson. He was a member of the Korea Church of God and attended the Big Woods Community Church. He graduated from Morehead State University with an electrical engineering degree, and he worked for several local radio stations, WKCA, WMOR, WLKS, and ION TV, and was working at Morehead State till his illness caused him to resign. In his younger years he played guitar with Jim Hager at Big Woods Church and surrounding churches. He played bass guitar in a local band. He loved to ride his motorcycle. Merv was a very generous man, to his own fault.

Surviving are his parents, Grover and Ailene Taulbee Lawson; two brothers, Ronnie & Kathy Lawson and Anthony & Carrie Lawson; and a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Monday, January 5, 2026, at Menifee Home For Funerals with Rev. David Hale and Rev. Jimmy Daulton officiating. Interment in the Big Woods Community Cemetery, Wellington, KY. Visitation will be at 11:00am. Monday at Menifee Home For Funerals, Frenchburg, KY Randy Halsey, Funeral Director.

Active pallbearers are family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter Beatty, Brantley Beatty, Doug McLoney, Hays McMakin, Rick Hesterberg, Paul Hitchcock, and Jim Hager.
