It’s with great sorrow that we announce that Phyllis Jean (Motley) Blanton, at the age of 86, has gone to join the many loved ones that have gone on before her on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at St. Claire Medical Center, Morehead, KY. She rejoins the many loved ones who have gone on before. Phyllis was born on October 3, 1939, in Morgan Co., KY, daughter of William R. Motley and Elza L. (Spradling) Motley.
Surviving are her sibling Judy (Foy) Back; her children, Robin (Steve) Little, Angel (Rick) Tinnel, and Andrea Blanton; and special daughter-in-law Debbie (late James) Blanton. Her grandchildren are Tabetha (Karen) Cooper, Lee (Samantha) Sudduth, Kayla (Dustan) Chapman, and Kaleb Mueller. Great-grandchild, Reign Sudduth. Step great-grandchildren: Jamie Trusty, Christopher Trusty, and Joshua Trusty. Great-great-grandchildren: Elijah Joseph Smith, Madilyn Paige Pill, and Noah Paul Drake. Step-great-great-grandchildren Averly Jolynn Brown and Lawson Lee Trusty.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, William R. Motley and Elza L. (Spradling) Motley; husband Rev. B. Matt Blanton; son James M. Blanton; grandson Noah Nathaniel Mueller; brothers Billy Grant Motley, Jack Douglas Motley, and James Lee Motley; and sisters Jerlyn Gayle (Motley) Chalin, Barbara Orene (Motley) Garland, and Maxine (Motley) Cockrell Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Big Woods Community Church, with Rev. Foy Back and Pastor Jimmy Daulton officiating. Interment in the Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY. Visitation, 5:30pm, Tuesday at the Big Woods Community Church, Wellington, KY. Pallbearers will be family and friends
