Richard Allen Ferrell, 79, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2022, at his Frenchburg home after an extended illness. He was born September 3, 1942, to Allen and Alta (Spencer) Ferrell in Sudith, KY. He attended Bath County High School. After several years of self-employment, he joined Walker Construction Company, where he remained until he retired.
He was a wonderful and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting seashells at the beach. But above all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He gave his life to the Lord and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg, KY. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends as well as all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Alta Ferrell, his two sisters, Garnetta Moore and Betty Highley, and his two brothers, Merle Ferrell and Hershel Ferrell.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cherie (Conway); one daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Jody Pugh; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Avery Pugh, all of Naples, Florida. He is also survived by his five siblings: four sisters, Shirley and Bobby Arnold (Shepherdsville, KY), Geraldine Jones (Salt Lick, KY), Linda Combs (Statham, GA), and Kitty Thomas, (Lexington, KY), and one brother, Buddy and Kathy Ferrell (River, KY).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1 pm in Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating, and the burial will take place following the funeral at The Cecil Family Cemetery on McCausey Ridge, Frenchburg, KY. Visitation will be 11:00am, Saturday in Bethel Baptist Church, Frenchburg,KY. Menifee Home for Funerals, Frenchburg,KY, Randy Halsey, Funeral Director.
Richard’s pallbearers will be his nephews and other family members. Honorary Pallbearers: Kim Spencer, Denny Halcomb, Raymond McNabb, Glen Mullins, Jim Ferrell.
