Ricky Dean Prater, age, 67, of Frenchburg, KY passed away September 14, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born December 11, 1955 in Middletown, OH to Odean & Corine Ross Prater.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord & savior.

Preceded in death by his wife, Susan Hughes Prater, parents, Odean & Corine Ross Prater, maternal grandparents, Corbett & Carmie Ross, paternal grandparents, Oda & Beulah Prater. 2 sons, Ricky Prater Jr. (Dino), Darren (Scotty) Prater. 2 sisters, Connie Young & Virginia Cockerham. 1 brother, Curtis Prater.

Surviving are his special friend, his first wife & the loving mother of his children, Serina Louise King. 2 daughters, Lisa (Johnny) Self, Serina (Alan) Halsey. 2 sons, Stacy Prater, Steve (Carrie) Prater, 1 step daughter, Angela Johnson, 1 step son, Junior Roe. 5 sisters, Libby (David) Jones, Cindy (Walter) Barnett, Rose (Mike) Stone, Ginger (Earl) Cockerham, Mary Prater. 4 brothers, Danny Prater, Paul Prater, Terry Prater, Johnathan Prater. 25 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, & many friends who loved him dearly & his best puppy friend, Cassie.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday September 20, 2023 at the Menifee Home For Funerals Chapel with Pastor Norma Seabolt officiating. Interment will be held at the Prater Cemetery in Denniston, KY. Visitation starts at 6:00 PM Tuesday September 19, 2023 at Menifee Home For Funerals.
