Velva Lou (Shepherd) Carty

Velva Lou Shepherd Carty age 82 of Frenchburg, KY passed away Sunday, March 9,2025 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born February 20,1943 in Gun Lock, KY (Magoffin County KY) to George Shepherd and Versie Bailey Shepherd. Married the love of her life Charles D Carty on October 5, 1957 who passed away August 8,2021.

Surviving is three daughters, Anita & Kenny Wayne Patrick, Rita Carty & Mike Helton, Charlene & Steve Bayko. One son, Vester & Tammie Carty. Eight grandchildren: Jennifer & Jake Thompson, Carla & Brad Dehart, Marla & Jesse Morris, Brandon & Amanda Carty, Derrick & Tiffany Carty, Darren & Chelsey Carty, Travis & Kayla Bayko, Steven & Chelsea Bayko. Twelve great-grandchildren. One sister Dosie Baldridge. Several nieces, nephews who survived.

She was preceded in death by her parents George & Versie Bailey Shepherd, husband, Charles D Carty, infant son Richard Carty, sister, Imogene Shepherd.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Friday, March 14,2025 at Menifee Home For Funerals with Bro. Jimmy Daulton officiating. Burial in the Lovely & Amburgey Cemetery, Jeffersonville, KY. Visitation, 11;30am Friday at Menifee home For Funerals, Frenchburg, KY. Randy Halsey Funeral Director.
