Wendell C. Back

Wendell C. Back, 75, of Denniston, KY passed away Monday December 23,2024 at his home after an extended illness. He was born October 20, 1949 in Frenchburg, KY son of Jesse W. Back and Beulah Keith Back. Was a member of Pomeroyton Union Church, Preceded in Death by parents, Jesse W. and Beulah Back, grandson John Wayne Back. bother Robert Earl Davis, sister Janet Burris.

Survived by wife, Arliss Fern Back, of Denniston, sons Joseph W. (Margie) Back of Wellington, Scott (Melissa) Back of Frenchburg, Jesse Clay (Andrea) Back of Lexington, Josh (Tina) Back of Wellington. Six grandchildren, Caitlin Back of Wellington, Dalcus (Halley) Sparks II. of Grayson, Alex Back of Lexington, Joseph S. Back of Wellington, Chrissy Jo Back of Wellington, and Evan Back of Frenchburg. And 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Michael (Tommie) Back of Runnelstown, MS, and Anthony (Patsy) Back of Frenchburg, and one sister Theresa (Bill) Slone of Wellington. Host of other family and friends.

Wendell was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving in the Vietnam War. Wendell had a long and distinguished career caring for children in the region. He worked for social services with foster children, served students of the Menifee County Job Corps, and taught agriculture and advised FFA at Morgan County High School for 20 years. In addition, he wrote the first eighth-grade curriculum in agriculture for the state of Kentucky.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Sunday, December 29,2024 at Menifee Home for Funerals with Bro. Terry Wells officiating. Burial will be at the AP Wells Cemetery, Possum Hollow, Wellington, KY.(with Military Honors conducted at gravesite by Morgan Co. DAV Chapter #132). Visitation, 11:00am Sunday at Menifee Home for Funerals, Frenchburg ,KY. Randy Halsey Funeral Director.
